I retired from the Air Force after serving 24 and
a half years. |
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
At the time I retired, I was the Director of
Security for the Air Force Pentagon Communications Agency (AFPCA).
AFPCA provided end-to-end security, e.g., Personnel, physical,
information and computer and network systems security for AFPCA.
But most importantly, we providing computer and network system
security for the Secretary of the Air Force, the Air Force Chief
of Staff and their offices at the Pentagon. |
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
We also
provided communications security (COMSEC) and emanations
security (TEMPEST) support for the Secretary of Defense and the
Offices of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff.
During the
final years of my service, our responsibilities expanded with
the creation of the Single Agency Manager where I served as
the Director of Security.
In that
role, our scope of support at the Pentagon expanded to include
computer and network security services for the Secretary of
the
Army, the Army Chief of Staff, and their offices. |

Chief
accomplishments include the Air Force Most Outstanding Command,
Control, Communications and Computer (C4) System Security
Organization (MAJCOM Level). In the annual competition
among all of the federal agencies, we finished as a finalist
among three other agencies: Transportation Command (TRANSCOM),
the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) with TRANSCOM
actually winning the coveted Rowlette Trophy for Excellence in
Information Systems Security which was presented by the National
Security Agency annually. Having previously led organizations
where I had great officers, NCOs and civilians where we had won
best at the Numbered Air Force level, I was real happy to
demonstrate that I can learn and could actually win the big
prize!
One of my
other major accomplishments while at the Pentagon is an
achievement I can still claim as unique today. If you google
FISSEA and look up their annual Educator of the Year awards,
you'll see me listed as the first military member and first non-PHDed
member to earn this distinction as the educator of the year in
1994. |
